the first test is ahead and today was the first evening since about 4 years i spent with books, notes and my dedicated school-desk. well. it’s not particularly easy to find back to a learning mood .. but on the bright side of everything, i’m at least motivated to do so now. i couldn’t really say that when i went to school the last time. back then, i did the most possible minimal effort to get thru. and hey, i didn’t start to learn 4 days before the tests! :)
maybe i got a bit more mature since then (obviously). and this time, the stuff i’m learning is at least of interest to me in general. i even found those typo-raster-lectures very interesting afterwards. i mean, if you’re going to do it straight the way they tell you “how they do it” is another question. but it’s at least very informative and interesting to get a picture of how it _should_ be handled. :)
we also got a nice realworld project. the goal is to design postcards, masani cards – or how they are also called: “cards for free”. you can find them in more or less every nice bar in switzerland. the theme we have to visualise is “moment” or “augenblick” in german. i had tons of ideas already but few of them are a) to be realised in a healthy timeframe or b) impress the jury. since some 36 people are taking part and there are only 6 slots open for cards that will be printed in the end, the competition will be quite big. so, as with advertisement in general, the idea must be a top-idea. that’s the line i set myself. i already did my obligatory minimalistic approach but it seems that either more eyecandy or a better idea wouldn’t be bad to keep up with my colleagues in the class. coz, honestly, who doesn’t want to get his very card printed 35’000 times and distributed in all major night clubs and scenish bars in the whole country? huh? yeah you got it. tho, looking at it from a more realistic point of view, i don’t think that my design is very top-of-the-notch and impresses the guys like “WOAAH!” ..
